Six of My Favorite Movies Adapted From Books

#1: Disney's "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian"

Even though "Prince Caspian" didn't follow exactly along with C.S. Lewis's book, I loved it! The action, new characters, and great casting were all just wonderful.

#2: "The Lord of the Rings Trilogy"

Even though there are three LOTR movies, I'm looking at them as a whole for this, since that's how Peter Jackson wanted  them to be seen. Really, Mr. Jackson did a fantastic job with this trilogy- it captured Tolkien's characters and story so well! The Hobbits were my favorite characters, because even though everyone looked down on them, they showed just how much God uses not warriors, but everyday people.

#3:  1995 "Pride and Prejudice"

I've watched the 2005 version with Keira Knightly, but this version by far is my favorite. It went into greater depth than the other version, and I loved everything about it! Lydia's story was explained more, as was Mr. Darcy's and Georgiana's, and I loved Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth's romance, although Mr. Bingley and Jane Bennet were my favorite characters. And for some reason, Mr. Bingley reminds me of Mr. Tumnus from the Narnia movies and books...

#4: "Anne of Green Gables"

Anne's story is a classic! It is so heartwarming and fun. Megan Follows played her part so perfectly (even though she was a seventeen year-old playing a twelve year-old) that when I think of Anne Shirley, Megan Follows playing that character is what comes to mind.

#5: "The Giver"

I almost liked the movie better than the book- even though Ms. Lowry did a great job on them, I liked how the movie showed more  how terrible a world without feelings is. It just seemed to prove that point better. Also, it was great how the movie showed the community's reaction to Jonas's leaving. The memories shown and the point the movie proved was so inspiring. Even my mom, who didn't care for the book, enjoyed the movie!

#6: Disney's " The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe"

To me, this Narnia movie is a classic, and despite the fact that the book and movie were done for kids, I'll never get too old for them.

What about you? What were some of your favorite book and movie adaptions?

  1. Oh, I really loved the Narnia movies too! I'm in love with the books and I think the movies did a good job of bringing that spirit to life in a really colorful way. (Also, the casting was pretty perfect.) I've not seen the Giver movie yet but it does look good too and I've heard sooooo many awesome things about it. One of my other favorites is probably the Inkheart movie, which I actually liked BETTER than the book somehow, even though it was a teensy bit cheesy. It was just so cute and I loved the ending more than the actual book ending, not to mention the humor was spot-on. xD Also the Hunger Games movies, because UGH. So good.

    1. Yes, Narnia is great- C.S. Lewis is a very inspirational author, and the movies are as well. :) And "The Giver" was really good- although it was sci-fi, and I'm not really into that type of thing, I really enjoyed it and its message. I've not seen or read "Inkheart" before, although I think one of my friends likes it. What's it about? Thanks so much for commenting and following my blog- I really appreciate it!

    1. I just liked the 1995 version because of the characters, how it seemed to go deeper into the story, and how it seemed to portray the time period better. What do you like about the 2005 version? Thanks so much for following my blog, and for the comment!!!
