30 Days to Joy: A Book Review

Genre: Self-Help/Creativity/Inspirational

My Rating: Five Hearts

30 Days to Joy is an inspiring little book meant to teach its participant what real joy is, and how to have it in their own life. You can doodle, journal, write in poem-form your answers- or whatever else you can think of! There's no right or wrong way (my entry for day one shows several doodles, my definition and thoughts on joy, and the dictionary's definitions of both joy and happiness)- it's all pretty laid-back, the only aim being to teach you something, to make you think.
There isn't a big explanation or devotion for each day- your participation is really how you learn, which I thought was really cool. It makes you think deeply for yourself the answers to the questions (there's one a day) the book is asking you. You'll also find, at the beginning of every day, a quote or Bible verse pertaining to joy (I love quotes, so this was a big plus for me, and also showed different people's explanations and perspective on things). And the playlist they encourage you to make- what a great idea! I'm planning on looking up what playlists other people who did this book made. I'm interested in their answers and take on joy, and it just makes me feel more connected to other people learning from the same resource I am.
It's not a magic tool that will instantly give you joy through anything- only God can do that, but He can use as tools books like this to help you in your journey. There are so many hardships and trials in our lives, so many worries, this little book will prayerfully help you as you try to discover the unrelenting joy only God can bring in the midst of it all.

Note: I got this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
